Exhibition on “Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel – The Founding Father”

Chubachu, Thimphu – 20 September 2016: Her Majesty Queen Mother Sangay Choden Wangchuck will inaugurate the exhibition on Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel – The Founding Father on 21 September, 2016 at the Royal Textile Academy.

To commemorate the 400 years of legacy of our founding father Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, the exhibition is to pay our humble tribute to the Zhabdrung, his life and legacy.

The exhibition, which will be on for public display for six months consist of sacred artifacts belonging to the Zhabdrung and his successive reincarnations. Sacred relics belonging to Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, Chogley Jigme Tenzin and Chogley Yeshey Ngodrup have been loaned from Gasa, Jarogang Lhakhang, Simtokha, National Museum of Bhutan and Hongtsho Tashigang will be on display.

Simultaneously, an exhibition titled “Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel– A Biography Through Kuthangs” will also be inaugurated at Royal Textile Academy.
