Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck graced the Khadi-Thagzo, A Textile Presentation as the Chief Guest on the 16th October at the Royal Textile Academy. This collaboration between the RTA and Indian Embassy in Thimphu was to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. For this presentation, four Bhutanese designers; Chandrika Tamang, Kencho Wangmo, Sangay Choden, Tshering Choden, and three Indian Designers- Rajesh Pratap Singh, Samant Chauhan, and Anamika Chauhan displayed 48 ensembles using Khadi and Bhutanese textiles. The event had, as objective, to encourage traditional textiles and weaving, both a forte of India and Bhutan, and to foster a collaboration between the traditional textile artisans and designers from both countries, further cementing the close and friendly ties between India and Bhutan.
