RTA and VAST Bhutan signs MoU

The formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Royal Textile Academy (RTA) and the VAST Bhutan was signed today at the RTA to collaborate in organizing upcoming National Design and Art Competition.

It was signed by Executive Director of RTA, Ms. Rinzin O. Dorji and Ms. Chimi Zangmo, the Executive Director of VAST Bhutan.

The RTA and the Textile Museum (TM) will be organizing the Annual National Design and Arts Competition (NDAC) in October 2017.

Until 2016, the competition was held in the categories of Weaving (Gho and Kira) and Embroidery. Starting with the forthcoming competition in October, with financial support from Mr. and Mrs. Alan Bickell, the competition will include two new categories: Traditional Painting and Modern Art.

While RTA and TM will organize and conduct the competition for the rest of the categories, VAST Bhutan, being specialized in the field of modern art, agreed to come on board as a partner to conduct the competition for the Modern Arts category.

While this is the first such collaboration between RTA and the VAST, we hope for similar successful partnerships in the future.
