Bhutanese Textiles in High Fashion

The Textile Museum opened an exhibition tiltled `Bhutanese Textiles in High Fashionโ€™ on 27th March 2014 at the Textile Museum , old premises on Norzin Lam.

The exhibition showcases an amalgamation of Bhutanese textile traditions into current Fashion trends. The exhibits are the collections from the Fashion show `Window to woven dreams,โ€™ which was held on 6th June 2013 during the grand opening of the Royal Textile Academy, where six local designers and two top Indian designers, Ritu Kumar and Rajesh Pratap Singh, came together to showcase their interpretations of Bhutanese textiles.

Local designers Sonam Choden Dorji, Kezang Anayat , Dorothy Gurung, Kencho Wangmo, Sangay C.Tenzin and SABAH Bhutan participated with their designs for the Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan.

Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
